Hygge (Hyoo-guh) is widely recognised as the Danish and Norwegian way to live well with feelings of wellness and contentment – how do we use spatial awareness to achieve hygge?

Hygge can be practiced through the small intricate daily routines such as the food we eat, the clothes we wear and the activities we take part in. As hygge is loosely translated as an emotion, it cannot be not forced, only experienced and thus eliciting the question – how do we use spatial awareness to achieve this?

A key concept of Hygge is the essence of togetherness – the bringing about of society and people and furniture is often at the very forefront of this. Hotels, cafes, restaurants, and bars are the pinnacle of togetherness and if designed with hygge in mind, can help guests achieve to achieve these feelings of cosiness and wellness.
